Willoughby Walk to Allow Pets

It’s no secret that we at ENM love our pets. Aside from being pet owners, we recently partnered with the Langley Animal Protection Society to construct a one-of-a-kind isolated shelter for sick and injured cats. We know that pets are a very important part of so many families’ lives and can be integral to building a sense of community. So we’re happy to announce that our new purpose-built rental project, Willoughby Walk, will be accepting pets.

Our co-founder Daniel Greenhalgh explains the reasons behind the decision. “In my experience, pet owners are typically more responsible people. They want to put down roots in a community and stay for a long time, and those are the kind of people we want in our building.”

It’s been shown that households with pets do stay three times longer than those without. Our whole philosophy behind building quality purpose-built rental projects like Willoughby Walk is to go the extra mile to attract long-term tenants who want to become a part of the community. We also want to help alleviate the extreme lack of options in the Lower Mainland for tenants looking for an affordable home to rent. Those options are limited even further for pet owners since so many landlords are afraid of allowing pets in their building.

But for Willoughby Walk, we’ve planned for the presence of pets from the beginning. “We knew we wanted to structure our units to weather the wear and tear that a pet can bring,” says Daniel. “So we spent extra money to install commercial-grade materials in every unit. We have hardier materials for flooring, for baseboards, for the exteriors of our units. We wanted to ensure that the materials would be more durable.”

We designed our pet policy to be inclusive, but it does include certain restrictions. “We have a limitation on the number of pets you can have, and we also restrict certain dangerous breeds. We also ask for an extra half month’s rent for the deposit, which is standard for pretty much every rental.”

So if you’ve got a good boy or adorable furball and you’re looking for a long-term rental, check out our units at Willoughby Walk. We recently opened a “register interest” site that allows you to become pre-approved for occupancy. When we start accepting applications, you’ll be first in line to choose which unit you prefer.

Our first move-ins are scheduled for September and will continue through the end of the year. We hope we can welcome you and your pet to Willoughby Walk very soon.
