Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore: Giving Strength to Those in Need

Admittedly, as the income inequality rises, more people in the middle and lower class bracket are also struggling. ENM Construction Management aims to help address this dilemma by partnering with different organizations in building affordable houses for those in need.

What is ReStore?

ReStore is a home décor and building supply store that sells gently-used items, such as home accessories, furniture, and appliances. These materials are mostly donated by manufacturers, malls, restaurants, commercial builders, hotels, schools, and individuals who also share the same goal of helping those in need. Anyone who has the passion for helping the community can participate in the donation drive. Here is a list of some of the items that they accept.

  • Appliances (e.g., stoves, ovens, washers, etc.)
  • Cabinets
  • Flooring (e.g., tiles, rugs, carpeting, etc.)
  • Furniture
  • Heating and Cooling (e.g., AC, fans, water heaters, etc.)
  • Home Décor
  • Painting Supplies

Aside from donated items, the project also reconditions reusable items in the landfill. Revenue generated from this project covers Habitat for Humanity’s administrative costs and funding for affordable housing in the community. The project inspired Dan Greenhalgh, co-founder of ENM Construction Management to participate in the drive to help improve the lives of people.

ENM Construction Management: Lending a Hand

Since 2015, Dan Greenhalgh has significantly been involved in the initiative to drive positive change in the community. He provided support for the acquisition of the project and helped review other related developments for the Habitat.  In 2017, our team has officially partnered with Habitat for Humanity in implementing community projects; one of these is the 19 unit townhome development at the Cedar Valley Connector in Mission.

Briskham Project

ENM Construction Management manages the development of the 19 unit townhome, featuring a 1500 sqft – 2000 sqft, two and three bedroom layouts. The townhome is designed for Habitat partner families who have qualified the requirements of the organization. Some of the factors for eligibility are listed below.

  ✔Level of need

✔Financial Status (those who make between $40,000 - $65,000 household income)

✔Ability to repay a habit mortgage

  ✔Willingness to partner with Habitat

Selected families, in exchange, will have to complete 500 hours of volunteer activities. Our team continuously strives to provide development management services to Habitat for Humanity.

The Community’s Backbone

As our co-founder, Dan Greenhalgh strongly believes, housing is directly linked to the strength of the middle and lower class. Help strengthen the people in your community.

Do you have gently-used materials that you can donate? Participate in the ReStore project, and contribute to the success of the Briskham project!
