Supporting the community has always been one of the goals of Daniel Greenhalgh and Colin Lacey when they built ENM Construction Management. The team at ENM Construction strives hard to bring housing options to the community and seek opportunities for those who are in need. With this in mind, we make it a goal to partner with different organizations in building social housing. We aim to help reduce the number of Canadians who are in need of access to affordable, safe, and suitable housing.

Housing Affordability
Social housing was created to help those who are struggling with their housing costs. It is a category of affordable housing that is subsidized by the government. The Government of Canada, through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), works with its partners to deliver affordable housing problems.
ENM Construction is dedicated to finding solutions to the affordable housing challenge. Both Dan and Colin have met with councilors and city planners from Mission, Abbotsford, Surrey (SCDC), and the Township of Langley to discuss ideas on housing density and provide advice on what our local governments can do to help make housing more affordable.

Social housing is allocated based on needs
The government has made efforts to assist those who are not served by the private housing marketplace. You need to meet certain conditions to be eligible for subsidized housing. Here are the two most important factors.
✔ Members of the household must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a refugee claimant

✔ At least one household member is below 16 years old
Social housing projects aim to help enhance social interaction
One of the primary goals in building social housing, aside from providing for shelter needs, is to help drive positive change in the neighborhood. They are designed to provide a sense of community and belonging, and prompt positive change in people's behaviors.
They require community building strategies
Bringing the community together is not just about building affordable housing. It demands skill and creativity from developers. This is where ENM Construction Management comes in. Our team is composed of individuals who put an effort into value-engineering interior and exterior spaces. We make it a goal to create the most value for the least amount of money. With our construction projects, we aim to:
Giving back to the community takes many forms, and building social housing is our unique way of creating value in the community.
✔ empower residents;
✔ build green and functional spaces; and
✔ create curb appeal.

The Continuum of Social Housing in Canada
Dan Greenhalgh
is a proud contributor to the consistent drive to build social housing for those who are in need. The team understands that measuring affordability of housing is a complicated business given Canada’s vast physical and human geography. This is why we stand firm in our commitment to help organizations construct homes for those whose income level are priced out of rental and ownership housing markets.
