Daniel Greenhalgh, ENM’s project manager, is looking forward to seeing the company’s hard work finally pay off.
“We’ve been living and breathing this project for so long, envisioning every aspect of the design, construction, and amenities – it’ll be immensely satisfying to see the property come to life with the first new tenants in Phase 1.”
The six-story, wood-framed development is one of the first purpose-built rental properties to be constructed in Langley in over 40 years.
Greenhalgh has overseen all aspects of construction. Every decision, from choice of amenities to choice of materials, was made in hopes of raising the bar for quality in rental properties across the Lower Mainland.
“We designed this property to be a trendsetter for purpose-built rentals. We feel these kinds of projects are essential for addressing the housing affordability crisis, and we want to be part of raising standards for tenant expectations. We used high-quality materials, we included a huge number of amenities and we hired the best property management company we could find to oversee the day-to-day logistics. We want this to feel like the best of strata living.”
In the first weekend of walk-throughs, 20% of Phase 1 units were snatched up. But we’re still accepting applications for prospective tenants for the next phase. Applicants can apply for one, two and three bedroom rental units.
“We’ve made it through about 20% of the waiting list we have, so we encourage anyone who’s interested to go ahead and apply.”
The criteria for tenant selection is intentionally rigorous in hopes of ensuring a community of people who intend to put down long-term roots in the Willoughby community.
“The whole idea behind purpose-built rental projects like this is to give families the security to make long-term plans in their home, to raise their kids here and contribute to the community. Middle-class families are being priced out of buying homes here, and rentals are scarce and unpredictable. We tried to recreate the best of strata living here while still keeping it affordable and accessible to average income earners.”
